dc.description.abstractAbstractThe study attempts to know how to improve the students’ speaking skill through Debate at the third Semester of English Department Students at FKIP UHN Pematangsiantar.A debate is real or simulated issue that they have shared knowledge and different opinions or interest to defend. This study concerned with classroom action research. The study conductedfrom 30 participants. The researcher analyzed five items of scoring guidance test from the student’s debate; Pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, fluency and Comprehension. The result of research the of students’ achievement from cycle one was 76.6. The second cycle was 81. The enthusiasm percentage was 77, 5 %. The second cycle, it was 82, 5 %. The minimum score was 69 to be 72. The maximum score was 81 elevated to 87. The researcher concludes that improving speaking skill through Debate is helpful to enhance the students’ skill in pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, fluency and comprehended speaking.en_US
